Act 893 of the 2003 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature created the Lafayette Metropolitan Expressway Commission (LMEC) to pursue alternative and innovate funding sources, including but not limited to tolls, to supplement public revenue sources for the construction, maintenance, and operation of a safe and efficient limited access highway system exclusively within Lafayette Parish.
